Car Games for Kids
Pub Cricket
When driving in Britain kids can be kept quiet by spotting pubs on 'their side' of the road and scoring runs for the number of limbs associated with the pub name. E.G "The Red Lion" has 4 limbs so scores 4. The "2 Swans" scores 8 while the Queens arms scores 2 (unless you want a row about the meaning of the word 'arms' in this context). The holy grail of pub cricket is to pass by the "Duke of York's Men" which scores 40,000.
Travel List
Write out 2 lists of common things seen by the roadside and hand them to the kids. Whoever ticks off the most items before the destination is the winner.
Dead Lions
An excuse to get a couple of minutes peace and quiet is to see who can stay quiet the longest.
A good variation is a minute per treat prize and let them know how many sweets they have earned by their silence. This will keep them trying to get more and more treats
